Interprofessional Curriculum Development Project (ICDP)

In the summer of 2006, together with the RI AHEC Network, the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and the School of Nursing at Rhode Island College, criAHEC launched the Interprofessional Curriculum Development Project (ICDP). The project seeks to find creative ways to integrate interprofessional collaboration into the curricula of health professions training programs. During the summer, 2 medical students and 2 nursing students worked together to research and create the framework for teaching modules. The vision for the modules is that they could eventually be adapted to the existing curriculum of a health profession training program, without needing major changes in the curriculum.

In the spring of 2007, in cooperation with the RI AHEC Network, the College of Pharmacy of the University of Rhode Island, the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and the Schools of Nursing and of Social Work at Rhode Island College, criAHEC will convene an interprofessional panel and workshop designed for and by health professions students. The panel will feature members of the Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Surgical Team, an interprofessional group that is working together to improve patient health outcomes in trauma care.
