criAHEC: Staff Randi Belhumeur Randi currently serves as the Executive Director for the Central Rhode Island Area Health Education Center (AHEC). A Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator by trade, Randi has worked in many roles in the health care setting before coming to AHEC. Most recently, Randi managed the federally funded Title III C-1 Congregate Nutrition Program for a private, non-profit, affiliated with Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Randi's passion for health promotion and disease prevention was evident through the work that she accomplished in the Congregate Nutrition Program. She has also worked in primary care as a consulting Dietitian where she has counseled patients with a variety of co-morbid conditions, utilizing her motivational interviewing skills. Randi has also worked in research, where she acted as a staff nutritionist for the Women's Health Initiative, a multi-state, clinical trial funded by the NIH. Additionally, Randi has worked as an in-patient clinical Dietitian. She holds a BS in Communications from Bryant College, a BS in Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island (URI), an MS in Nutrition from URI and maintains her licensure as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Outpatient Educator. She is the recent Past-President of the Rhode Island Dietetic Association, which is the local affiliate of the American Dietetic Association. In her spare time, Randi plays competitive tennis. She has a son who is a Junior at UVM with course work focusing on renewable energy and a son who is ready to embark on a college career with a potential focus in nursing. Since her two sons are now grown, she has taken to a new "baby", a two year old basset hound. She lives with her husband, son and two dogs at their home just North of Providence.
Beth Lamarre Beth currently works as the Director of Recruitment and Clinical Education for Central Rhode Island AHEC (criAHEC). She works to establish health careers programming for elementary, middle and secondary school students in various health-related locations and programs. She also runs the REACT RI Youth Health Service Corps summer program for high school students, exposing them to "sampling" positions in the health field at area hospitals and health centers. Beth received her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Rhode Island in 2002. She has held positions at Rhode Island Health Center Association and Providence Community Health Centers before coming to Central RI AHEC. She plays pool in an APA league and ejoys reading, cooking and running, and is involved in animal rights.
